The action is set in Truvy’s beauty salon in Chinquapin, La., where the ladies who are "anybody" come
to have their hair done. Helped by her eager new assistant, Annelle,
the outspoken Truvy dispenses shampoos and free advice to her clients.
Shelby, a diabetic, decides she wants to have a child and forfeits her
life because of it. The sudden realization of their mortality affects
Truvy’s clients, but also is what gives the play its strength.
Steel Magnolias will be performed in loving memory of fellow Heritage Player, Debbie Wessolek whose favorite role was portraying Claree in Steel Magnolias, and for whom we realize her dream of directing this production for our stage. All shows are held at the Bethel Park Community Center, 5151 Park Avenue, Bethel Park, 412-831-6800 Ext. 745.
